Matt Day was born in Victoria B.C., in 1969. He began dabbling with the piano in his mid teens and finally began studying music in 1988. He holds a BA with a music major from Concordia College and a diploma in jazz (performance major from Grant MacEwan College), both in Edmonton, Alberta.

Matt has been an active musician on the Alberta music scene since the early 90's. He has had the privilege of playing with jazz/blues legend, Clarence "Big" Miller, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and The Calgary Philharmonic. Most recently Matt performed with Bob Carlisle, writer of the number one hit "Butterfly Kisses".   In May, 2005, Matt had the distinct privilege of playing for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.  An accomplished pianist and entertainer, Matt has performed for television specials, fund-raisers, community events and even the wedding of Ms. Canadian Universe 1998. Matt's abilities as a session musician and songwriter / arranger are also in demand. He has written, scored and directed several full length musicals and is heard on many recordings. His unique subtle playing style and dynamic personality not only bring a certain freshness to the piano but make him a true delight to the listener.

Matt is a member of the Durksen/Day Duo, Razor's Edge and runs his own musical services company, Music 2000. He is happily married and is the father of 4 young children.
